How I Get My Stubborn Two-Year-Old to Bed on Time Every Night

Getting your toddler to bed has been a struggle for every mom out there at some point during their parenting years. Whether your first, second, or third child was a by-the-book baby and never brought a problem, chances are that at least one child has introduced the highly-talked about problem of bedtime.

Prepare for Bed Ahead of Time

Providing a child with a warm and relaxing environment before their initial bedtime increases the chances of a successful night’s sleep. If a child is in a noisy and distracting environment, the chances are that they will not be able to simply calm their minds and body for restful sleep. A simple routine is a must to help your child notice when he/she needs to start settling down for bed.

Have a Routine

Set up a routine that prepares your toddler for bedtime. Eventually their minds and bodies will atomically sync with the routine and provide a mental signal that allows them to wind down without much trouble.
A sample routine of a toddler’s night is below:
Promotes healthy bodily hygiene
Prevents night time hunger
Brushing Teeth
Promotes healthy dental hygiene
Story Time
Parent/child bonding, positive relationship with reading/literature, helps supply relaxation for mind/body

Keep Steady Naptime

Set a designated time for naps and stick to it. Toddlers become cranky if they are too tired, and make the bedtime routine harder. Skipping or playing through naps may seem innocent, but can cause the toddler to become fussy. This increasing the risk of your toddler being unable to settle down and having tantrums when the time comes to lay down and start their bedtime routine.
Recommended Bedtimes/Naptimes for ages 1-5 are listed below:
4-12 Months
2-3 naps, 4-5 hours
1-2 Years
2 naps, 2-3 hours
3-5 Years
0-1 hrs, if needed
6-12 Years

Exercise and Eat Healthy

Keep your toddler physical throughout the day. Simply put, if your toddler stays active and healthy the body will equip itself with a calm and sometimes sudden rest. A body at work will lay to rest at night a lot quicker and easier than a body that has sat idle. Food consumption can also affect the ability to sleep in individuals, especially growing toddlers.
Below are a few samples of foods that can help a child stay full and get a peaceful night’s sleep.
Effects on the Body
Oatmeal with Milk
Leafy Greens
Whole Grains
Complex Carbohydrates
Green Vegetables

*Magnesium naturally allows the muscles to relax and promotes restful sleep.
*Tryptophan, an amino acid, can make individuals drowsy after a meal.
*Calcium combines the use of tryptophan and melatonin to induce restful sleep.
*Melatonin is a hormone produced in the brain at night and can be triggered by certain food choices.

*Complex Carbohydrates make tryptophan increasingly available in the brain by using protein rich foods.

Why I feed my TODDLER on a VEGETARIAN Diet

Meat consumption is a widely-discussed topic among meat eaters and vegetarians alike. For most, the decision to not eat meat or meat products is a personal one. However, there are some instances where entire families follow the decision. Starting at a young age will provide a strong and healthy relationship between your children and their future.

Negative Effects of Eating Meat on Children

Toxic Shock
Contaminates infect most if not all of available meat products that are sold in supermarkets everywhere. Antibiotics, hormones, and toxins are ingested by cattle and livestock constantly. The very use of hormones in animals are said to enable maximum growth for animals on farms and make for double or even triple the amount of available meat able to be sold. This however can harm our children by providing extra hormones and antibiotics that they normally would not be introduced to.
Ingested hormones in livestock have multiple negative effects on children worldwide. Studies that have taken place in a variety of countries and cultures have all shown that the extra hormones present in our food have led to increased puberty and early sexual development. These children are forced into puberty at ages as low as eight years old.
Children are constantly growing and for toddlers, they are in the prime time of life for education and growth. The American Health Association has even reported that the constant overuse of antibiotics can not only spread bacteria, but make strains resistant to antibiotics.

Benefits of Vegetarian Diet

Longer Life Span
While most people would argue that life span has many factors other than a person’s eating habits, it is shown in several cases that individuals do live several years longer when compared to the average meat eater.
Healthy Decision Making
One of the most important duty for a parent is to ensure that they teach their children to make positive and healthy choices during their lives. Starting early and introducing your children to a wide variety of foods will instill a strong ability to make positive choices.
Decreased possibility for Disease
Multiple studies have found that in persons following a vegetarian diet show decreasing cases of diabetes, heart complications, and cataracts.
Decreased chance of health problems

Running on 10 hours of sleep a week with 2 children under 2...... How do I do it?

Well..... To put it this way, its definitely not easy(obviously). The first week was super hard for me, and that week I was getting even less than 10 hours of sleep a week.
When your a single mother who cooks, clean, works at home and out of the home on top of making sure all your kids needs such as entertainment and playtime are all met. There's less hours for you.

But our normal schedule starts at 8am everyday, and ends at 8:30pm. By that time I'm able to get my online work and school work done after their sleep. Making me to go to sleep at 3-5am in the morning, on top of waking up every 2 hours after I went to sleep to breastfeed.

One thing I can tell you, green tea and coffee have became my best friends. After a while of being sleep deprived your body gets used to it, but be aware when you crash you do crash hard. The last time I crashed I slept for literally 13 hours! Of course the children were being watched by a family member during those long sleep bueaty hours. But you get the point, but boy, when you wake up fully rested and let out that really sweet stretch.... Its literally the best feeling ever.

Toddler meal of the day :BREAKFAST

Nothing better than the first important meal of the day, breakfast. Why not mix it up?  Why be boring ? Cereal shouldn't be your best friend neither should coffee. Today at 8am my 1 year old son had 1/2 of an apple, 1/4 of a banana diced, and last but not least blueberry waffels..... And for the fun part I smeared a very thin layer of Pillsbury cinnamon bun frosting on top(limited addition, so try it before its gone). It actually makes anything you eat taste like a cinnamon bun...... so why not pig out on less calories?

Teen mom back again

Howdy y'all, I'm back again. I'm still a teen mom, and yes its hard with one little one. But now its even harder with 2 little ones under 2. What a beautiful double number >.>, said no one ever! The joys are oh so fun and doing it alone is oh so difficult. But I like challenges and the new things to come are just obsticals I know I can get over.  Just had my baby literally September 2nd, and its like the number 2 is a bad number because that's the day my son decided to start his terrible twos.... Literally. The worst timing! Even tho I had a horrible pregnancy with her just like I did with my son you'd think it would be easier to transition to this..... Nope. I'm excited to start writing again, having a toddler and the joys of him can also take away from the hobbies we all love dearly.

Once Upon A Time...

I woke up to the sound of my six month old baby crying. “He must be hungry,” I thought to myself as I rushed over to see him. His big brown eyes glistened through his tears as he looked up at me. I knew that look, he was giving me that “feed me” look as I picked him up. An hour later after his feeding the phone rang, and I knew who was calling. I was so nervous to answer the phone. It was the day that I would have to make an important decision. I have been waiting for a response that could change my life forever.  Even though my life had already changed forever when I had my baby right after my seventeenth birthday, but this day will set me and my baby for life.

“Okay thank you so much,” I said as I got off the phone. That is when I looked down at my child and smiled. “Well, I passed the test! I’m going back to school”. He smiled back at me like he understood what I said. I knew it was that mother-child bond. However, I would have to find a way to get to school that day, and make sure my little boy was taken care of.   “I know what to do. I’ll see if mom is available”. I knew mom would agree to it, and that is when I drove up to my mother’s house. However, when I arrived there, things didn’t go quite as planned. As I was knocking on the door of mom’s house, I heard a weak moan from behind me. It was at that time when I turned around and began to scream. A zombie was limping towards me, and he looked hungry. I started to run with my baby wrapped around me. The fear was palpable, and even my little guy sensed it.  In the midst of running away I noticed that the backdoor was left open, and that is when the zombie creeped up behind me. I was frozen with fear. I could not move, and it was as if I was stuck to the ground. He reached out to me when a brick suddenly fell on his head. He lay there motionless, as I breathed a sigh of relief. I held my little guy close to me and I walked off to see if my mom was okay. I felt that we are safe now… or are we?
